Yes!If you put enough charcoal in only a small amount falls out.keep a water bucket nearby in case a grass fire starts from fallen charcoals. The charcoal probably will clog the gas jets and ignitor after awhile. Besides, the flavor comes from the drippings hitting the hot surfaces, not the charcoal. Not recommended.

No, it is not needed to put briquettes in a gas bbq. Most if not all gas bbq's can operate on the gas alone. If you wish to use briquettes most bbq's will work with them. There only purpose is to distribute heat evenly.

no you do not use charcoal for a gas bbq you need lava rocks or a ceramic briquet, the purpose is to catch the dripping meat juice which then burns and adds the "bbq" taste to the meat.

you can but it will ruin the gas grill and could cause an explosion if there is any gas introduced into the grill. Go buy a Weber Grill
