Human disturbances, or anthropogenic disturbances, can be anything from accelerating erosion to causing wildfires. Some examples are the construction of dams which fragment rivers and prevent the migration of salmon and other native species. This has negative consequences on communities that depend on salmon. Wildfires which are human caused can destroy homes or timber crops. Some argue that manmade suppression of fire is a disturbance which allows for the accumulation of fuels in the understory of forests that naturally burn. Because these fuels build up when wildfires occur (natural or human caused), they are far more destructive than they would be naturally. Other examples may be removing vegetation from an area which facilitates erosion. The tiger bush in Niger was decimated for fuel wood but during the wet season there was no vegetation to slow down the runoff which led to massive landslides that buried villages. The deforestation of Haiti is a great example of this.

Animal caused disturbances can be a number of things too. A common one in the southern US is wild hogs, which root up the ground facilitating the growth of invasive species or damaging crops. The brown tree snake was introduced to the island of Guam, which had no native snakes. As a result most of the native bird species have gone extinct on the island. Same with the mongoose which was introduced to kill rats in Hawaii however the mongooses preferred to eat the eggs of native birds rather than rats.
