this is because you hear the thunder after it actually makes the sound ( because sound travells ) . lightenging and thunder happen at exactly the same time... so if u see lightenging, try counting how many seconds until u hear the thunder. if it is 5 seconds the storm is 5 miles away into the sky, 6 seconds would be 6 miles 7secs 7 miles and so on.

hope this helped :) xx

Why don't the thunder and lightning come together?

Thunder and lighting do occur together during a thunderstorm. Lightning is a sudden discharge of electricity in the atmosphere, which creates the bright light that we see, while thunder is the sound created by the rapid expansion of air around the lightning bolt. Light travels faster than sound, so we see the lightning before we hear the thunder.

No, the two are quite different. The main difference is lightning is light, thunder is sound. Lightning is an electric charge that can come from a cloud for various reasons. Thunder is the sound made by lightning. Since sound travels slower than light, lightning comes first, thunder second.

Yes - since light travels faster than sound, you will see the lightning flash before hearing the sound of the thunder.

If you see lightning and didn't here thunder what dose that mean?

If you see lightning but don't hear thunder, it means the lightning is far away. The speed of light is much faster than the speed of sound, so you usually see lightning before you hear the associated thunder.
