In a car, a transmission system is needed because the engine does not make enough torque to make the car move.
A more accurate description of the problem along with if its an automatic or manual transmission is needed.

No it is not good for transmission fluid to leak into the engine. More information is needed to give even an educated guess why this is happening. The car must be older, or have a modulator valve in transmission pan and diaphragm is bad on the vacuum line.

What fluid are you asking about? Even knowing what fluid, a year, engine, and transmission description are probably going to be needed as well.
