pull steering wheel off, remove the steering lock disc, then remove the signal light switch assembly to gain access to the retaining screw that holds the lock cylinder in place,
you have to remove the steering wheel then using a lock plate removal tool depress the lock plate and removed the clip that holds it in place then remove the lock plate then remove the screws from the turn signal switch and pull it up slightly then remove the screw that hold the lock cylinder in place then remove the lock assembly
The shift lock solenoid is located on top of the steering column. You will need to remove the steering column covers, lower dash trim, and the heater duct. Remove the steering column bolts and lower the steering column to access the shift lock solenoid.

youll have to remove the air bag pad and horn contact pad and steering wheel. there is then underneeth a steering lock plate , yull need a steering wheel puller for(also for remoal of the steering wheel) and also to depress the spring loaded lock plate to remove the c-clip then slowlly release the pressure on the lock plate and remove it underneah will be the signal light switch assmbly.
the immobiliser is mounted to the steering lock, u need to remove the steering wheel and column to get to it
Ignition switch and lock cylinder removal 1988 Dodge Ram 50.Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.Remove the steering column cover to gain access to the ignition switch/lock cylinder.Using wire cutters, remove the cable band.Remove the bolts that hold the ignition switch/lock cylinder to the steering column.Unbolt and remove the key reminder switch and remove the switch lock cylinder from the steering column.
take out your cluster clock there's 2 nuts under it for the steering colum , once u have the steering colum loose u need to pull it forward to gain access to the dreaded allen key it's on the radio side of the steering lock and it opens the opposite way than normal , btw the steering lock must be open to remove it from the colum if its stuck locked there is a way to unlock it remove the steering lock cover (grey plastic cover) and unclip the actulator

remove the two screws holding face plate in center of steering wheel and remove plate. next remove large nut in center. Using a steering wheel puller remove steering wheel. next there is a pin next tothe lock cylinder. that will have to be driven inwith a hammer and a punch. lock cylinder should be able to be pulled out. installation is the reverse of removal.
