Putting diesel in a gasoline powered engine is less damaging than putting gasoline in a diesel. Depending on the amount of diesel and how long it took to find out it was in there, either after running or just after filling up and not attempting to start and noticing. Obviously if vehicle wasn't started just drain tank and refill w/petrol. If vehicle was started and stopped running, Drain fuel tank and flush, disconnect fuel lines at engine and fuel tank, install a suitable container over end of fuel lines and blow air through lines until all traces of diesel are gone. Remove and replace spark plugs. Replace fuel filter, fill tank with petrol and start vehicle. After running first tank of fuel through vehicle drop and replace fuel filter one more time. Hope this info was helpful.

The best bet is to always drain the tank if the wrong fuel is put in.

What happens when you put peetrol in diesel car?

Putting petrol in a diesel car can cause significant damage to the engine. Diesel engines rely on the lubrication properties of diesel fuel, and petrol lacks these, leading to inadequate lubrication and potential damage to fuel injectors and the fuel pump. Additionally, the combustion characteristics of petrol differ from diesel, which can result in knocking, poor performance, or even engine failure. If this mistake occurs, it's crucial to avoid starting the engine and have the vehicle towed for proper draining and cleaning of the fuel system.

Why cant petrol be used in diesel engine?

Because one has a petrol engine and the other has a diesel engine. Petrol/gasoline does not ignite the same way as diesel. It also does not have the lubrication qualities that diesel has. Gas in a diesel engine will damage the fuel system if the diesel very quickly.

Why cant you use diesel in a petrol car?

Diesel fuel is designed for diesel engines, which have a different combustion process than petrol engines. Using diesel fuel in a petrol car can damage the engine components, as diesel fuel may not burn efficiently in a petrol engine, leading to poor performance and potential engine damage. Additionally, modern petrol cars are equipped with fuel systems designed specifically for petrol fuel, not diesel.
