Land Rover vehicles are not very fuel efficient, and the Land Rover Discovery is no exception. The Discovery gets about 20 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.
Standard recommendation concerning coolant for the Discovery are mid to high end brands. Regardless of brand selected it must be replaced every two years for maximum effectiveness.
For a 2002 Land Rover Discovery, it's recommended to use an ethylene glycol-based antifreeze that meets the specifications of ASTM D3306 or ASTM D4985. It's best to use a mixture that is 50% coolant and 50% water, preferably distilled water, to ensure optimal performance and protection against corrosion. Always check the owner's manual for specific recommendations and ensure the antifreeze is compatible with your vehicle's cooling system.
