I'm not sure you can marry online. But….. I married my first wife by Proxy, via the telephone. It is legal and is still practiced today. I was stationed in Kuwait, and my best man was a civilian. (my best friend) I was able to secure some time on the phone, and they, (my wife, her parents and my best man) assembled at the church. The Pastor performed the ceremony with my best man standing where I would have, and I had my CO and LT. standing in with me as witnesses. Earlier I received in the mail, a copy of the marriage license, and had it handy so that the witnesses on my end could sign it after the ceremony. I then sent the copy to my wife, she in turn gave it to the Pastor, and he filed the paperwork for the certificate.
