Was Hermes married

A thousand years after Hermes may have walked the Earth, Greek and Roman poets were still singing hymns about him. Some mention his son Hermaphroditos, who was supposed to be from Hermes' union with Aphrodite, after they supposedly spent some time together in Egypt. This seems more likely than some of the other possibilities because the name "Hermaphroditos" is a combination of Hermes' and Aphrodite's names. The poets say Hermes had many girlfriends and they even hint at one or two boyfriends, but because of his son by Aphrodite, she is his most likely wife. He also loved Persephone, daughter of Demeter, but many of the other Olympian men did too and the songs tell that nobody was Persephone's main lover. She was taken away by Hades to the underworld but Hermes brought her back to Demeter again. I reckon Demeter would have been very grateful to Hermes for rescuing her daughter from Hades.
