A young person's Lexile measure is his or her reading level. A book's Lexile measure is its difficulty level. So you can match readers to books really well with Lexile. You can also estimate how well a specific person will read a particular book, and know if maybe they might need some support from a parent or teacher.

A person's measure is a single number with an L after it, like 800L. That person's optimal reading range is from 100L below to 50L above the measure. So an 800L reader's sweet spot is books between 700L and 850L.

But of course you can read books below that range (they'll be easier) and above that range (they'll offer more of a challenge).

So 8th graders usually read between 805L and 1100L. This range is taken from actual test scores from actual students around the country. Also know that a quarter of the 8th-grade scores were below 805L and a quarter were above 1100L -- this is just a kind of average range.

The books that are usually used in 8th-grade classrooms range between 1000L and 1100L.

What does the lextile score of 1230 mean for an eigth grader?

If your Lexile score is 1230 that means you are reading at a college grade level. In sixth grade I took it and got a 1250. :) I'm in eighth grade now, and I have a score of 1350. I've never really read much, but you should be considered lucky because i've seen many eighth graders with scores lower than that.

How much are girls in eighth grade supposed to weigh?

Somewhere around 100 pounds more or less. However some eighth grade girls might weigh as little as 85 pounds, and some as much as 120 pounds. If you weigh more it doesn't mean you're fat, and if you weigh less it doesn't mean you're weak. It all depends on how developed the girl is.
