First of all even though it's fashionable nowadays to say you're 'bisexual', in my personal experience they are a rare duck. By definition a bisexual is someone who is completely comfortable with both sexes, romantically and sexually.
There is the idea that if you identify yourself as 'bi', you can keep one foot in the door of acceptability-heterosexuality. Moving on....most research shows that at least 10% of the male population is homosexual. With women, it's a harder statistic to define because they will often appear to be in a heterosexual relationship just to become mothers. We are hopefully moving away from that scenario, but it's been rampant in the past and skews the research results.
Many men also grow up and marry for the appearance of a heterosexual relationship and the role as 'father'. Many of these men are homosexual by nature, but refuse to be identified as such. Doesn't make for many 'happy' fathers and again, hopefully we are moving away from that scenario as well.
Given the level of homophobia in the US and the general opinions about 'forbidden love', the 10% figure would be much higher if we 'free' to explore human sexuality.
Due to societal pressure, many people do not self-report even in blind surveys, so a specific number is uncertain. Scientists estimate that about 10% of all people are gay (meaning they are attracted only to people of the same gender).
A larger number (3 out of 5) will engage in some sort of homosexual behavior during their lives.
According to the study and report of Dr Alfred Kinsey, 10% of the population is exclusively homosexual. However, many researchers say this is a highly inaccurate number. A theory proposed by Billy et al shows that perhaps only as little as 2% of the population is exclusively gay, while the rest are bisexual. This is in opposition to Kinsey's report that 80% of people are bisexual while 10% are exclusively heterosexual and 10% are exclusively homosexual.
In general it is anticipated that 10% of males are Gay.
Most scientists consider it between 4% and 10 %.
Between 10 and 20%
Another View:
Scientists believe the worlds population is between 4% and 10% gay and lesbian with another 25% being bisexual.
If I remember correctly, up to 1 in 10.
It is estimated around 2 percent.
60%
Nope. The percentage of "fat" gay people is the same as the percentage in the general population!
about 3% to 8% of the population is gay.
The same percentage as that of the general population -- roughly 1 to 10 percent, depending on exactly how you define"gay."
About 10%...the same as the world's gay population.
There are gay people all over the world; in any random population sample, a certain percentage of people will be gay (I am not quite sure about how much this percentage is). That means that you'll find gay people in any country, and in any religion. There are gay people all over the world; in any random population sample, a certain percentage of people will be gay (I am not quite sure about how much this percentage is). No. only a small percentage of people are gay, about 3% to 8% of the population.
I have heard the statistic 10 percent of the world is gay, but I dont know Thailand specifically.
According to Dr Alfred Kinsey and his associates, 10% of the population are gay. This percentage, on average, holds true for most states and countries.
About 5% of all right-handed people are gay, the same percentage as the rest of the population.
There have been many studies, and virtually all of them fall in the range of 3% to 8% of the population.
If you mean "out" gay population, it may possibly be the Unitarian Universalists. If you just mean sexual orientation, then it's likely that all religions have about the same percentage of gay people within their ranks.
The percentage of the population that is gay is pretty consistent across the board. Countries typically have a gay population that is between 3% and 8%.Therefore, countries with larger populations will have larger numbers of gay people, such as China and India.
