Nothing if its a sand filter However if sand is coming into the pool from the filter then you may have to replace one ore more laterals in the sand filter as they have worn and are letting sand through to the pool,

You would need a good pre-filter to remove the sand and other rubbish and a properly set up reverse osmosis filter to produce the clean drinking water from the oily salt water.

If you have a cartridge filter you may have to clean it more often. If you use D.E. the sand will be dunped when you backwash,Other then that there is no harm. A: Why would you want to be tracking sand into your clean pool? You are just adding more contaminants. YUK !
You can add water, and make it run through an filter. The sand will stick in the filter, and the sugar will be yours after the water is vaporized. You can wait until the water is vaporized, or heat it up.
