This period of history is often referred to as "The Tudor Period." It is named after the royal house or family name of the monarchs.

The first Tudor monarch was Henry VII, the father of Henry VIII. He was born on 28th January 1457, became king on 22nd August 1485 and reigned until his death on 21st April 1509.

Henry VIII was born on 28th June 1491, became king when his father died on 21st April 1509 and reigned until his death on 28th January 1547.

Henry VIII was followed by his son, King Edward VI who was born on 12th October 1537, became King at the age of nine when Henry VIII died on 28th January 1547 and reigned until his death on 6th July 1553.

The next monarch was Lady Jane Grey who was descended from the Tudors on her mother's side. She was born around 1536, became Queen on about 6th July 1553 to 19th July 1553. She was deposed as Queen by Henry VIII's daughter Mary and was executed for "High Treason" on 12th February 1554.

Queen Mary I was born 18th February 1516, became Queen as stated above on 19th July 1553 and reigned until her death on 17th November 1558.

Queen Mary I was followed by her half-sister Elizabeth, another daughter of Henry VIII.

Elizabeth I was born on 7th September 1533, became Queen on 17th November 1558 and reigned until she died on 24th March 1603. She was the last Tudor Monarch.
