It was so important for Sauron to get the ring because if he did he could like totally rule MIDDLE- EARTH. And that would be like...BAD
Sauron would hold the whole of Middle Earth at his mercy. He would show no compassion. He would kill all that is good. Yes, that includes hobbits. Rivendell would be ruined forever, as would the beautiful Shire, Lothlorien, Bree... and all of their inhabitants would either be led off in chains, or killed where they stood. There would be fierce battles and perilous escapades, rebels and heroes, but in the end, the good would whither and fade into extinction. The world would never be the same again.
Sauron would have become powerful enough to conquer the world Sauron would regain his full strength. The rest is answered above.
Most likely one of the goblins (orcs) would have found it and a few years later taken it to Sauron and that would be the end.
Sauron might control all of Middle Earth and do anything he wants, which would be horrible.
The ring is a character because it retains part of the essence of Sauron, and, although it does not have a consciousness, it does have the power to seduce so as to get back to it's master.
He wanted to take it back to Gondor for use against Sauron. Mostly, I think, to impress his father.
In reality, Frodo was defeated by Sauron, the One Ring's power overcame Frodo in the end and he announced his ownership of the ring, this drew Sauron's attention to Mount Doom and he ordered a Nazgul there to take the One Ring from Frodo and return it to its Maker - Sauron. Frodo would not have been able to fight a Nazgul and win, even with the One Ring to assist him as the ring wanted to return to its Maker and would not have assisted Frodo. All was now lost, except for one minor detail. Perhaps a half hour before arriving at the Cracks of Doom, Gollum had attacked Frodo and after Sam and Frodo had fought him off, Frodo in anger (perhaps without even realizing it) cursed Gollum, by the power of the ring, that "if Gollum ever touched Frodo again he would fall in the Cracks of Doom".Only moments before the Nazgul could arrive to take the ring, Gollum jumped Frodo, wrestled with him, bit off his ring finger (if that's not touching, I don't know what is). This activated Frodo's curse on Gollum by the power of the ring, causing Gollum to fall in the Cracks of Doom while celebrating taking "his" ring back, the ring fell with him and was thereby destroyed, thus fulfilling the quest of the Fellowship of the Ring. With the One Ring gone all Sauron's power was also gone, the Nazgul turned to smoke, Baradur collapsed, his armies scattered without guidance, and Sauron himself probably followed his master Morgoth into the void.
The ring was made by Sauron, and when it was made, He put some of his power into it. Sauron was an Maia. Meaning he was one of first people on Arda, part of the Valar. The ring bears some of his life force, and whilst the ring is intact, sauron cannot be killed. The reason they have to travel to Mt. Doom to destroy the ring is because it was forged there and no other thing on arda can damage it Hope this helped
The One Ring - the ring made covertly by Sauron to rule all the Rings of Power.
My guess is that he would have left the cave, but one of Sauron's minons would have taken the ring and given it back to Sauron.
There was one ring ring created by Sauron. The ring was the Ring of Power. The ring Sauron created was to achieve his purpose. The ring of power was the great weakening of his power. He also lost this ring many ages ago.
If Darth Vader had the ring i would say that it would be sauron
The ring is a character because it retains part of the essence of Sauron, and, although it does not have a consciousness, it does have the power to seduce so as to get back to it's master.
To rule them all.
Gollum took it from him and Frodo pushed him into Mt Doom
The ring has a consciousness of its own. The ring knew that Frodo was going to take it to be destroyed, whereas the one ring abandoned Gollum as it knew that Gollum would never return it to Sauron. The ring used Bilbo as a carrier or a vector.
The Lord of the Ring is Sauron, there is no other Lord. But the first ring bearer that was not Sauron was Isildur. The first Lord of the Rings book and movie is 'The Fellowship of the Ring.'
In the brief scenes with Sauron in the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring, Sauron was played by Sala Baker. The Eye, of course, was computer-generated.
In the fires of Mount Doom by Sauron
By destroying it.
Gollum was captured by Sauron's forces who then tortured him until he told them about The Shire and Baggins.
