There's a number of options. You can go to the next exit to get turned around, or, if you know the area well enough, you can get off at the next exit and take surface roads to where you want to go. But, DO NOT, under any circumstances, stop and try to back up to the off-ramp, and do not try crossing the median to get turned around.

∙ 6y agoTake the next exit, and figure out where to go from there. If you're in a big town, the exits are close together, and it may be easier to navigate to your destination via side streets. If it was a long way, then get back on the freeway heading back the other way, and take the proper exit.

∙ 6y agoTo avoid causing an accident or committing a traffic offence, you accept you have made a mistake. Do not attempt to reverse against traffic to regain your missed exit. Go on and rejoin the interstate further on, or take an alternative route to your destination.
