Technically, there is no time "between" cycles - one starts as soon as the previous one ends. But 28 days is the average cycle length, however, even a full week longer or shorter is totally normal, especially if you are young.

We can't tell you how many days are in your cycle, everyone is different. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days, but your cycles may be longer or shorter - it's also completely normal for your menstrual cycles to vary from your average cycle by up to a week. One cycle is the number of days from the first day of your period up until your next period, figure out the average from your past six cycles.
