How long for heroine?

It could take a few weeks to kick your habit. But if you have help like suboxone the first couple days are brutal but you will live, suboxone makes the detox process easier to deal with. Contact a local doctor that can set you up with a suboxone program, doing detox without any help is very hard to do and pretty painful.

What can you take to get methadone out of your system?

You should detox from methadone in a medical detox facility. Methadone detox is the worst of all the opiates -- much worse than heroin -- lasts about twice to three times as long, and can be fatal in some cases. Suboxone is often used clinically for methadone detox, along with supporting medications as needed.

If you have taken hydrocodone for 4 years is that an addiction?

It is impossible to take effective doses of any opiate drug for that long and not be addicted. If there is any doubt in your mind, see what happens if you miss a couple of doses -- but have some handy if you need it. You will need medical help with a full detox. Go to an inpatient detox facility if at all possible. The storefront Suboxone clinics are mostly there to get you hooked on Suboxone. (My apologies to the reputable private practitioners out there. It's a shame there are so few.)

How do hospitals detox patients addicted to suboxone?

Good question! For several years, I was addicted to opiates until I came across that "wonder drug" suboxone (buprenorphine). After getting on suboxone, the cravings were gone, there were no withdrawals, and everything felt great. However, I was only supposed to be on suboxone for 6 months. After 6 months, my doctor told me that he would taper me down over a period of time... 2 1/2 years passed! There are a lot of terrible side effects to being on suboxone for so long, such as lowered cognitive abilities, loss of sex drive, depression, and a bunch of other yucky things. Finally, I made an independent decision and checked into the hospital myself, to detox and finally be rid of suboxone. There was nothing too complicated to it. Since I was taking 12mg a day, it took 8 days, and it consisted of a medically-supervised taper, where you're provided with ant-anxiety medications, vitamins, clonidine, and other meds to keep you from feeling in pain, or overly anxious. All in all, I was glad I did it! I felt like a slave to suboxone for 2 1/2 years, and that medication is really expensive too! I urge anyone who's been on suboxone for a long time to consider checking-in and tapering-off under medical supervision. I feel like I got my whole life back! P.S. Not every hospital's detox unit provides a buprenorphine detox. I live in San Francisco, but I had to drive all the way to Los Angeles to get to the nearest one. It's worth it, though.

How long after Suboxone Maintenance can one get high by Suboxone?

If you're trying to get high on suboxone after being on it to get you off opiates, you should probably go back to rehab.

How long does it take to stop taking Suboxone as in at what rate should you lower your dosage safely?

Suboxone requires tapering. If you have used it for a three to four day detox, then it should only take the last day to day and a half to taper off of it, by cutting the usual 8/2 twice a day dose in half (e.g. 1/2 pill twice a day for one day), then in half again (e.g. 1/2 pill once a day for the last day of detox). However, if Suboxone has been used for a longer period of time, then more gradual tapering is desirable. As always, it is best to consult with your prescribing physician.

How can you detox yourself from heroine?

Taper down, little bit each day - but if that doesn't work, taper down like, once every 2-4 days (depending on your system, and how long you've did heroine). Other than that, you really can't detox, unless you take Suboxone (or Subutex; which is buprenorphine), or methadone (MMT-methadone maintence treatment). GOOD LUCK!

Can you get sick if suboxone is out of your system for 24 hours and you take methadone?

No, you will not get sick. As long as the Suboxone is out of your system you will not feel any withdrawal symptoms.
