advil is only bad for the liver if you consume too much, taking it occasionally is ok, but as with any medicine it can destroy the liver over a period of time

ibuprofen, under all its titles, is hard on the kidneys. It is also hard on the stomach, and you can develop ulcers from overuse. It's acetaminophen that's hard on the liver.

All pain medicines are metabolized by the liver and can cause liver damage when taken in excess or when the liver is already compromised. Even healthy people should be cautious when taking pain killers. Taking pain medicines if you have liver problems is potentially very dangerous for some. Check with your doctor before taking any pain medications if you have liver problems.

NSAIDs like Motrin or naproxen are filtered through your kidneys, not your liver. If you have kidney problems it is advisable not to take too much of any NSAID for too long. As far as I know (and I am not a doctor or pharmacologist) Motrin is not bad for your liver. Tylenol, on the other hand, is an entirely different story...

If you're really that concerned, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Or you can even call your local "Ask a Nurse" hotline. They should be able to give you a more difinitive answer.

Tylenol PM is a safe over-the-counter (OTC) sleep aid, which contains diphenhydramine 25mg (Benadryl) and acetaminophen 500mg (Tylenol). Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine, whose most common side effect is drowsiness. Products containing diphenhydramine alone are also available OTC, and may provide an effective and less expensive alternative to the combination products. OTC sleep aids are meant for short-term use (for 2-3 days). Typically they begin to lose effectiveness when used for longer periods. Persistent difficulty sleeping can have many causes and should probably be evaluated by a physician. Proper sleep hygiene can help minimize the need for sleep aids. It is important to incorporate the following common sense items into you routine. Try to eliminated naps during the day. Try to go to bed at the same time every night and make sure the bed is comfortable. Use the bedroom for sleep, not as an office or TV room. Avoid eating large meals before bed, avoid caffeine after noon, and avoid alcohol or nicotine later in the evening. Do not exercise shortly before bedtime; instead engage in relaxing activities during this time. If you have good sleep hygiene and still have trouble sleeping for more than 2 weeks, you should see your doctor. If you are taking prescription medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any OTC medicines. Patients with glaucoma, breathing problems such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or Asthma, or trouble urinating due to enlarged prostate should not use diphenhydramine. Tylenol PM may cause some drowsiness the following morning - avoid driving until you know how you respond to this medication. Taking too much acetaminophen can cause liver damage. Daily doses in excess of 3-4 grams of acetaminophen have been associated with of liver toxicity. Moderate alcohol use could increase this risk. If you consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks daily, ask your doctor whether you should take Tylenol PM. Acetaminophen is an ingredient in many over-the-counter products. Read the ingredient list of any other OTC medicines you intend to take to avoid an inadvertent overdose of acetaminophen. Difficulty sleeping can have many causes. For occasional difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep the entire night, Tylenol PM is a reasonable choice. Don't take Tylenol PM for more than 2 weeks.

Yes if you take too much of it over a long period of time.

THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO READ!!!! The answer is "YES"!!! My sister never did pain pills, never did cocaine, not even weed( which in my opinion, is worse than the others.) It just seems that the people doing weed are very dopey? O.K. back on the subject. But, I can honestly say that my sis never did drugs!!! and only drank on extremely rare occassions. So, during a camping trip for which she goes almost every weekend, she was absolutely blinded by this intense headache. She couldn't even stand or open her eyes. She was rushed to the hospital and they found that she was in "LIVER FAILURE". How in the world is that even possible?? Well, as the doctors asked her questions, they came to find out that my sis,Bernie(for short) would take 2 tylenol everyday before work. That's everyday for about 4 years( maybe she didn't on weekends.) But, to make this incredible story (in my opinion,INCREDIBLE) is that she was prescribed Percocet 5mg from her doctor years prior for carpell tunnel (that was so severe that she had to get surgery.) She had always sworn that prescribed pills were bad and can cause addiction or make her feel weird so she never took them. So I wonder, would she have been better off with The Tylenol? or The Percocet? And by the way, I think any pain pills with that much acetametiphen should be destroyed. If they give a person a Percocet 5mg and tell them to take it 3-4 times a day and they get it filled for a year, DO THE MATH!!! That's even more than my sister has ingested. Wouldn't it be far better for the patient, to give a Percocet 10mg once a day or twicw depending on the medical issue and severity of the pain?

Can Tylenol with codeine 3 and ibuprofen be taken together?

Yes, but do not take them in excess. If you have cirrhosis or liver problems, simply take the Tylenol with Codeine 3. Tylenol and Ibuprofen have the same effects and mechanisms of action, so there is no reason, unless explicitly instructed by your physician, to take them both together.DON'T DO IT. Use of Tylenol with other pain relievers (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, ketoprofen or prescription pain relievers) is not recommended, unless directed by your doctor. Don't take Tylenol(acetaminophen) with other acetaminophen products. You can exceed the daily recommended limits and cause liver damage. Dosage is different for kids and adults. A five year old took four Tylenol and had irreparable liver damage.research it at www.Tylenol.com. Don't listen to message boards. Talk to your doctor.
