Some Disney princesses that were based on a true story besides Pocahontas are Mulan and Princess Jasmine.
In the 'Pocahontas' Disney movie, Chief Powhatan was about to execute John Smith, but Pocahontas saved him by throwing herself in the way of the weapon, causing the Chief to stop.
That depends if you mean the real, historic Pocahontas or the fictional, romanticised, sanitised version created by Disney, Hollywood and the tourist industry in the USA.Pocahontas has been consistently misrepresented over the 395 years since her death. Perhaps the most appropriate symbol of that false representation is the Disney animated film of 1995.A suitable symbol of the genuine Pocahontas would be the so-called "Mantle of Powhatan", now in the Ashmolean Museum in England. Although often described as a mantle or cloak, it was more probably a wall hanging of some religious significance and would have been an everyday part of Pocahontas' world. It is a simple tanned deer hide (buckskin) decorated with tiny white shells individually sewn in patterns representing a native, two small mammals and perhaps stars.See link below for a good quality image:
The only mention of a connection between John Smith and Pocahontas was in John Smith's memoirs that he wrote several years after returning from the colony. The actual likelihood of John Smith having ever known Pocahontas is remote. Pocahontas was married to John Rolfe, the one of the more affluent settlers in the Virginia Colony of Jamestown. She had been taken captive by him in a raid, and perhaps in an attempt to establish an ally relationship with her father, Powhatan the chief of the Five Tribes, he mimicked the practice of the Powhatan Renape or Virginia Algonquians. This was in fact quite successful. The only real relationship between Captain John Smith and Pocahontas was that he visited Virginia Colony and she was there when the white settlers arrived. Oh, and Disney perpetuated the myth of a nonexistent love affair in that cartoon.
I think the founder is John smith. Wrong, the founder was the Virginia Company, they it was a joint stock corporation that founded trips to the New world for profit, mainly to Virginia even more specifically Jamestown. Where John Smith was a captain and helped to save the colony most famously for his way of providing food, "If you don't work, you don't eat." (another side fact it was not John Smith that married Pocahontas as the Disney movie "Pocahontas" state but in fact John Rolfe)
You can compare how the media has twisted the story of Pocahontas. Disney's version was not historically accurate.
Pocahontas
a Disney Character in the animation film Pocahontas
Pocahontas is a fictional disney character.
The Disney film Pocahontas is from 1995.
1996
"Pocahontas" has the characters Meeko and Flit .
Because pocahontas was a real person so it's only correct for them to advertise this; however the film isn't completely accurate, for example John smith and Pocahontas didn't have a romantic relationship (however some might suggest this).
There's nothing "dangerous" in watching Disney's story of Pocahontas, however, watching it does not give an accurate portrayal of the lives of the real Pocahontas & John Smith.
Pocahontas i think.....
Pocahontas and her tribe
Toy Story and Pocahontas .
