What happened after 1066?

William Duke of Normandy landed on the south coast with an invading army and defeated King Harold at The Battle of Hastings. William was later crowned as William I, he is also known as William the Conqueror.

After 1066 aka the battle of hastings William became king of England after shooting Harold in the eye with an arrow. He began to start the Harrying of the North and what he did was get people to go round killing people, taking there food source , putting salt on there farm land to stop there crops growng.... Anyway he did all this because the English were rebelling against him. After he got 4 servants of his to go round and ask everyone how much money they had, animals they had and land they had so he could see how much to tax them but he died before it was finished, they wrote all that in a book called the Domesday book. He also invented the Fuedal System which was the king gave land to the Barons, the Barons gave land to the Lords/Knights and the Lords/Knights gave land to the peasants.

Then the Peasants gave money and worked for the Lords/Knights, the Knights/Lords fought for loyalty for the Barons and the Barons gave the king soldiers and loyalty.
