We seem to be talking about England. The first battle of 1066 was the Battle of Fulford near York (Sep 20) between the northern army and the invading Norwegians. (which the Norwegians won) Shortly afterwards (Sep 25) , when Harold II arrived with the southern army, there was a replay called the Battle of Stamford Bridge. (which England won) Thirdly the army marched south to meet Duke William of Normandy (Oct 14) (and lost heavily)
