∙ 15y agoIn addition to the old Washington (D.C.) Hoover Airport site and other government-owned land, construction of the Pentagon required an additional 287 acres (1.16 km2), which were acquired at a cost of $2.2 million.
The contract for construction was $31 million.
It is composed mainly of reinforced concrete and has approx. 17.5 miles of corridors. In the 1970's, Guinness Book of World Records listed it as the largest office building in the world.
