Why did Hitler want to become dictator?

Hitler had a dream of ruling countries that were purged of undesirable people and filled with the pure Aryan people groups. He wanted the Third Reich/Nazi Regime to rule 1000 years. He legally assumed the leading position of Germany when the president of Germany died.

Because he had such nature suitable to become a dictator and the German Reichstag passed laws giving him dictatorial powers.

Two laws in particular, the Verordnung des Reichspräsidenten zum Schutz von Volk und Staat (Reichstagsbrandverordnung)(Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State) (Reichstag Fire Decree) dated 28 February 1933, and the Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich (Law to Remedy the Distress of People and Reich) dated 24 March 1933 (better known as the Ermächtigungsgesetz (Enabling Act)).

These two laws (and later the amalgamation of President and Chancellor) allowed Hitler and the Nazis to turn the fragile, democratic state of Germany into a Dictatorship.
