Leather jackets, boots, oxygen masks for high altitudes; other wise standard class "B" dress uniforms...shoes, trousers, cap, etc. None of today's "G" suits, safety helmets, full face visors, special gloves. Translation: with the exceptions of the above stated high altitude work, airmen just jumped into their airplanes and flew them! No bells and whistles; they had a job to do.
killed people
The RAF not only killed people, which they did much of. They were the main reason Hitler never invaded England. The radars employed by the British gave a warning to the RAF so they knew how many German planes were coming and from which direction. This allowed the RAF to send out planes to intercept the Germans before they could bomb the mainland freely. Which gave Hitler doubts about invading.
They were also key in Dunkirk where they prevented German planes from bombing those stuck on the beach, before the British could send ships to save them.
Another AnswerThey flew aeroplanes.
