Moderately successful - - - gains were minimal and mostly served to put a brake on practices that would be considered abhorrent by the standards of 2007... Mostly the labor unions drew attention to the status of the American worker and made an issue out of what had been mostly ignored such as the use of child labor and the general plight of workers whose wages stagnated or fell while prices for the most basic of goods continued to climb.
