Why do Odysseus' men rebel against his commard regarding the bag if winds?

The reason for the rebellion of O's men was their jealousy of their captain because he is always respected. This leads them to believe that the bag of wind given to him Aeolus was some loot so they all decided to open it which sends a gush of wind out, sending them back out to sea after being so close Ithaca. While all of this was going on, Odysseus was down below sleeping but than woke up when he finds out they are back in the middle of the sea again. His men are basically a really big burden on him but the all die when they eat the cows of the sun and Odysseus drifted until he was founded by the Phaeacians which were moved by Odysseus story and decided to sail him home back to Ithaca.
