How do you gain trust from your guinea pig i have had my guinea pig for a while like a year and a half its sister died recently so i want to get it to trust me but it just runs. help?

There are a few things you can do, but guinea pigs are prey in the wild, so no mater how buddy-buddy you get with your guinea pig it will still run away when a hand goes to grab it, it's just a natural response. Try talking to the pig. Guinea pigs can get used to your voice, and will squeak with joy when they hear you. Also try hand feeding your pig. Get one of her/his favorite treats and feed it to your pig with it in your hand. Guinea pigs love food and would eat 24/7 if they didn't have to sleep, so food is a great way to your guinea's heart!
