What do you do if your dwarf hamster had 4 babies and you got her from a pet store?
I recently purchased two dwarf hamsters (of which I was told both were female) about two weeks ago. I had to separate them after 3 days due to fighting. Tonight I went to clean her cage and while she was out in her ball her bedding started moving! My first thought was that dwarf hamsters gestate for 18-21 days. So either I got a male and a female and they were very early or my little innocent Flip was prego when I got her.
I immediately called the pet store, and they said they would take any unwanted babies after two weeks. The need 2 weeks of alone time in their cage without cleaning or touching the hamster.
I hope you can keep one, but try your local Pet Land stores or a local non-chain pet store. They should take them off your hands for you.
AnswerI can't give you any help on raising baby hamsters, but I can tell you that the babies legally belong to you. Whether the pet store knew the hamster was pregnant or not, they are yours to keep if you so choose.
