Best Answer

Gerbils usually sleep at night and are awake at day, like humans.

But some gerbils play at night, the person who answered before me and also my friend have the problem of their gerbils playing on their wheels at night but my friend now takes the wheel out of the cage just before they go to sleep and back in when they get up, so you can do that if you have a problem with it.

well it depends, if you are around where ever your gerbils are then they are more likely to wake up and play whereas is you are out they are more likely to go to sleep. they do usually sleep during the day but it can vary to sleeping at night they are a bit unpredictable! hope this helped.

they are quite active, make sure that they have enough space in there cages to run around, and put cardboard in their cage, they love tearing it to bits and biting it. However they do make a lot of noise so only give it to them in the day time. If you can once a week or more let them out in a room where they cannot escape through holes or gaps under doors, this lets them stretch there legs and feel free once in a while.

Gerbils sleep when ever they get tired. They are not nocturnal like some other small rodent animals.

Are gerbil's nocturnal?

Of course not! They sleep during the night just like you, and should not keep you up, unless you go to bed early. They know when you sleep, and they sleep whenever they see you sleeping. They also take naps when you are gone. Gerbils love to nap, and they do not usually take deep sleeps though. They sleep when you do, but wake a little earlier. My point: Gerbils sleep when you do. They are not nocturnal, but they do nap a bit. Some breeds of gerbils are actually nocturnal. And some are not. My gerbils come out in the morning but then go to sleep again until the evening.

Will a pregnant gerbil sleep a lot?

Yes, pregnant gerbils usually sleep for long periods of time. This is due to them getting tired from carrying heavy weights. No need to worry if they sleep alot, just make sure they eat and drink lots too.

What do gerbils do in the desert?

Gerbils are naturally from the desert, so they do anything else a wild animal should do. They burrow underground to prevent desert heat and predators. They make nests out of most things they could find (dried grass, etc). Gerbils hunt for bugs and eat roots and seed. They are pack animals, so they live in clans. Gerbils are diurnal, which means they sleep on and off between activities.
