I just saw on the news the other night that many women are having their babies later in their life (mid 30's to early 40's) and there is a big risk factor attached to it. At 56 you could quite possibly give birth and it's something you would have to to discuss with your doctor, but don't be surprised if the doctor recommends you don't. 56 is too old to have a baby without a risk to you or the baby. There was a woman that was in her mid 60's that successfully gave birth to a baby, but this is an oddity. As we grow older we lose more energy. If you feel you want a baby either go through an adoption agency (they may disagree because of your age), go through a lawyer for adoption or, adopt a baby from Another Country (the price may be high, but you stand a better chance.)
