In the years leading up to the War of 1812, sentiments towards going to war with Britain varied significantly across regions. People in the South and West generally supported the war, driven by issues like maritime rights and the desire for territorial expansion. In contrast, those in the Northeast were largely opposed to the conflict, as they had strong economic ties to Britain and feared the war would disrupt trade. This regional divide highlighted differing economic interests and political priorities within the young nation.
Between Germany and Great Britain there was militarism. When Great Britain raised their military and made it better so did Germany. As a result of this Great Britain did the same. It kept going back and forth like this. This action is called militarism.
I read an article not too long ago that listed 300 wars going on in various parts of the world. There are small wars between countries/people/borders that are going on in the middle east and Africa as well as some areas of South America.

In 1914 the German army invaded Belgium on it's way to France. During the Schrieffer plan Germany thought that going through Belgium was going to be easy and that Britain was going to remain neutral if Germany attacked Belgium.

Technically west, but the quickest way would be to head south-to-southwest, crossing over into a general north-to-northeast. Basically, you shoot straight going over Antarctica, near the south pole.
The South and Britain had a cotton trade going at the time of the civil war. If Britain supported the North, the South would have cut of the supply of cotton to Britain. Britain though, actually was in favor of antislavery.
