How did Great Britain help the south during the civil war?

Why were Ireland neutral during world war 2?

Although the republic of Ireland remained neutral during the course of the ww2 it did not stop its people volunteering. And when you consider the fact that England had promised Ireland, if they helped in WW1, they would get their republic of Ireland (i.e that Northern Ireland would no longer be part of Britain) and England then breaking their promise, followed by the Anglo-Ireland war and the civil war, one might find it quite astonishing that 150,000 Irish people North and South volunteered to fight against Nazi tyranny in Europe, at least 10,000 of whom were killed while serving in British uniforms…Other countries in Europe remained neutral ie Spain,Portugal,Sweden and Switzerland and unlike the latter two Ireland did not profit from trading with the Nazis

Did America really believe they could stay neutral during World War I?

America is a large country whose people have many different opinions. Some Americans believed that America could remain neutral during World War 1, some believed that America could but should not stay neutral, and some believed that America could not stay neutral. Initially, those in favor of neutrality were the vast majority. Eventually those supporting participation in the war became a larger and larger fraction of the population, until they were so large that a declaration of war became politically possible.

Who was the African leader during the cold war?

There were many different African leaders during the Cold War. Africa is a large and diverse continent with many very different countries, and the Cold War lasted from about 1948 until about 1989. That is about 40 years, plenty of time for notable leaders to rise to prominence and be displaced by others.

What Switzerland remained during the war?

"neutral" in the sense that they never took sides in a political sense. mainly because they were quite well situated and defended by the alps. there was also a large economical benefit in being the world's bankers - which by thier very nature have to be impartial/neutral from a business point of view, however morally perverted that has turned out to be nowadays since the Swiss banking secrecy has been compromised

Why was Switzerland remained neutral?

Switzerland has maintained a neutral stance because they want to protect their world wide banking industry. They also are a small country with a small population. They have a reasonable sized armed force but not large enough to conduct total war. They tend to be a pacifist people group too.
