The United States began to take on the role of "policeman to the world" after World War II, particularly in the late 1940s and early 1950s. This shift was solidified with the establishment of the United Nations in 1945 and the Truman Doctrine in 1947, which committed the U.S. to containing communism globally. The Cold War further entrenched this role, as the U.S. intervened in various conflicts and supported allies to maintain international stability and promote democracy.
