Lots of reasons: 1) they may think you are At Fault, regardless of what the other driver was doing 2) they may dispute the amount of your claim 3) they may not believe that you have a claim at all 4) they may be forcing you to go to take legal action Remember, the longer they can hold on to money (that is, the insurance premiums you and I pay), the more interest they receive on their investments of it. Really need more info for a good answer. Either talk with a claims manager (not just a adjuster) from the insurance company, or call a personal injury attorney that offers free first consultations.
