∙ 14y agoYes, but then what will you be spending your time doing? As a parent, my patience is short with people living in my house who are not productive. If you must quit, make plans to immediately get your GED and a job. Talk with your parents.

No, he is not allowed to drop out of school. I think this because that way he can't complete his education, then he will not be able to get a good job in the future. (he will not make any money).

∙ 10y agoNo, You can drop out at the age of 16, however, they have the right to suspend your driving privileges until you complete school or turn 18. However you REALLY need to think this through. I know things may seem difficult but they do get better, I promise. You will permanently affect the rest of your life with this choice. You cannot get good jobs, attend college, even enlist in the military if you have dropped out and not obtained your GED. The new GED test is VERY difficult. Talk to your parents or a counselor before you make such a monumental decision.

Connecticut has mandatory education to the age of 18. In most cases they would not be allowed to to leave school even with parental permission. It doesn't make good sense for the parents or the child to drop out before they have the education to obtain even the most basic jobs.
