* write as much as you can- not just the kind of thing you want to write in the end - it's all practice! * Read a lot so that you can learn from other writers, and read different styles of writing. * Look at what you have written after some time has passed so that you can review it more objectively (without being too involved because you wrote it) * Get people whose opinion you respect and trust to look at things you have written
* Be prepared to listen to what they say * Be prepared to rewrite things to change parts or the style
