∙ 9y agoIt's hard because Both of them are the native American(people who lived in North America a long time AGO). In my opinion, neither because they started it a long long time ago. Like 10,000 years ago and only the native American know it. Not the American because Christopher Clombus(the first guy in Europe who find North America) found it in the 1500. I think no one know it. Even the native American Ancestor.
It's military alliances, sustained by political and organizational skills
yes, completely. because i am haudenasaunee (iroquois)
The Iroquois Confederacy first began when five different Native American nations, the Cayuga, the Onondaga, the Mohawk, the Seneca, and the Oneida came together against their common enemies, to strengthen their tribes. Each tribe had its representative. If a tribe had a conflict, the Iroquois Confederacy representatives came together and discussed it until they could reach a compromise. Usually these compromises worked. The Iroquois Confederacy was a form of government among the more Southern Eastern Woodlands Tribes.
Because they couldn't. The wheel was to the Iroquois as quantum computing is to us now. They might have conceived a wheel, though there's no evidence they ever did, but they lacked the technology to put it into practice. It's easy to forget that when the Europeans arrived, North American Indians were firmly lodged in the stone age. Even in South America, where a warm climate and agriculture provided the excess labor for technological innovation, they had just got as far as shaping soft metals.
They were so powerful because the Iroquois had created the Iroquois League.
because Iroquois were powerful
The Iroquois people called themselves the Haudenosaunee, meaning "People of the Longhouse." The Iroquois League was a powerful union of six Iroquois nations. The league was a politically powerful entity in North America, and up until the advent of the American Revolution, was vitually indivisible in loyalty ties. For over two centuries, European powers who settled the New World sought to gain favor from the Iroquois because of their particularly fearful reputation as a united force. The original league consisted of five nations, the Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga and the Seneca. The league later formed the Iroquois Confederacy in response to European colonization in order to provide a common allied defense against aggressive white settlers. However, with the dawn of the American Revolution, some nations of the confederacy decided to ally with the British, while the others sided with the Patriots. This division of the once inseparable Iroquois Confederacy resulted in its dissolution.
They were Important because Iroquois women helped their daughters
