French bread, yourself
Students in France will eat lunch during their lunch break, many going home for the meal. Lunch breaks in France are longer than they are in the US, so they have more time to relax. Usually their meals consist of bread, cheese, and meat.
In most, even nearly all French schools, you can have a lunch. It is not free, but rather cheap - about the price you would pay for a basic sandwich. If you prefer to commute regularly home to have lunch, this is usually possible but parents have to opt for that at the beginning of the school year.
Most French families eat their dinner together (and their breakfast, and their lunch) sitting at the kitchen table.

The French tend to sit for their meals. Breakfast is the lightest meal of the day in France, and the quickest with about 10 for 15 minutes. Lunch and diner are eaten in 30 to 50 minutes depending of what you are doing (at home, at the canteen at work, etc..)
