The Other Mother is like Coralines real mother exept better. Or at least that's what Coraline thinks. The Other Mother soon turns evil and wicked and traps Coraline behind a mirror so that Coraline dies and the Other Mother feeds on her. But at the end Coraline beats the Other Mother at her own game!Untill the Beldams (other mother) hand breaks off and Coraline traps it in a well! Cool Story huh? In addition, she probably is a mischevious, bad supernatural being summounded by the devil.
The 'other mother' isn't possessed, in the movie, the ghost children name her as a Beldam. In this usage, it seems to be a malevolent demon that inhabits a featureless world, that it can shape and change at will. In Coraline, she (the demon is clearly female) has populated the world with several rag dolls, of Coralines neighbors.
In the movie, its revealed that the Beldam lures children to the doll world and sews buttons into their eyes, which appears to trap their souls in their eyes (perhaps because the eyes are so expressive, the eyes are the gateway to the soul). She then locks the now dead child's spirit in a dark room, and hides the eyes so they can't escape. The cat speculates that the Beldam is lonely and wants something to love, or that she simply eats them. The ghost children say that she eats up their lives, so its a little unclear, however she clearly doesn't feed on the souls, else there would be no ghosts.
Personaly, I believe that the Beldam is lonely, and wants a child to love, but the children aren't content to stay with her for long, and wish to return to the real world. To stop it, she sews buttons onto their eyes, which removes their souls. However, without their souls, they are just empty husks under the Beldam's control, and so become an object. Wanting more and more, she doesn't see the souls are what she wants to love.
No one knows the Other Mothers name in "Coraline" , If you haven't read the book or have seen the movie , I would do so right now!
Horribly bad. Bad all the way.
Mel Jones .

The last answer was well.. needless to say not very informative. So here ya go:She said, "You know that I love you."And, despite herself, Coraline nodded. It was true: the other mother loved her. But she loved Coraline as a miser loves money, or a dragon loves its gold. (9.7-8)Love can mean a lot of different things. We at Shmoop love our moms, but we also love a good piece of chocolate cake. The other mother doesn't want the mushy kind of a love, she wants the "it's mine to enjoy" kind of love. She looks at kids, and everyone around her, as objects to control, and this type of love ends up destroying people. The other mother wants to possess the children she takes so completely that she actually steals their souls. For a moment, we might feel sorry for her. Maybe all she wants is love, devotion, and the closeness a child has with his or her mother. But if that's what she wants, she's going about it the wrong way. Manipulation and abuse will never win you love. This is a lesson that the other mother learns the hard way.
When Coraline explores her new home, she steps through a door and into another house just like her own, except a little different. It's an amazing adventure until she discovers that there's also another mother and another father in the house. They want Coraline to stay with them and be their little girl. The want to keep her forever! Coraline must use all of her wits and every ounce of courage in order to save herself and return home.
In the book Coraline takes place in England, in the movie however it takes place in Ashland, Oregon.
Coraline is told from the author's point of view, but I guess you could say from Coraline's too, just... it's not Coraline speaking or writing, whatever, when you read it.
The Other Mother
she took the other children because she wanted something to love, and she took Coraline's parents because she had them in her clutches in order to lure Coraline back to the other world.
The cat sees the Other Mother as a manipulative and dangerous entity that preys on Coraline's desires for attention and love. The cat tries to warn Coraline about the Other Mother's true intentions and guides her to uncover the sinister truth behind the other world.
Coraline returns to that other world to rescue her parents and the three ghost children .
Because she is a demoniac.
coraline goes through a magic door and enters the other world and gets in to all kind of trouble with the other mother
In the book "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman, Coraline's mother is called Mel Jones.
Because she wanted to take away her soul and trap it in the isolated room of the ghost children. First, she turns into a copy of coraline's mother. Then, Coraline insulted her, which made her turn into a thin, tall witch. At the end, she turns into a spider. Soon, Coraline escapes to the real world and found her real parents. The other mother broke her hand and Coraline's friend smashed it with a rock.
He smells of pumpkin of course.
The rising action in "Coraline" includes Coraline discovering a hidden door in her new home that leads to a parallel world. As she explores this other world, she encounters the Other Mother and the strange, button-eyed inhabitants. Coraline's curiosity and sense of adventure lead her deeper into the mysteries of the other world, building tension and suspense.
The hero in the book "Coraline" is Coraline herself. She is a brave and resourceful young girl who has to confront a menacing Other Mother to save herself and her parents. Through her courage and cleverness, Coraline is able to defeat the villain and protect her family.
