Why should reservation in India not be banned?

What role my ancestors played in ancient social structure shouldn't affect me as a human being and as a citizen of India in present times especially when current economy doesn't run on caste system anymore.

Reservations have only divided people further. Hindu religion has nothing to do with castes; it is nothing more than a social system which was convenient at that time. If we want to abolish the concept of caste from the psyche of the people then we have to abolish castes.
