I have had this happen before, Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Hope this helps. Can be a bad starter or corroded connections. If the battery is over 3 years old or has been discharged more than once, replace it.

It can very well be the battery. Takes almost no amperage to operate a radio. I would suspect it is either the battery or the battery connections.
