No dash lights or gauges not working on dash board on 1986 Jeep Comanche?

First, I would check the fueses, below the dash by the drivers feet. If not that, you should check the switch, try inter-changing it, if that doesnt work, you should check for burnt wires. I've had this problem before.

∙ 9y agoThe speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge will not be working on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee if the fuse has been blown. Alternatively, the wiring can become disconnected.

A common reason for this is a cracked circuit board in the instrument panel. Do any of the warning lights come on at the same time (ABS, for example)? Do the interior lights work in the gear selector or the climate controls? If none of them work, suspect a fuse or something else. If it's just behind the gauges and all have gone out, then the board behind the gauges may be fried. But assuming none of those are the case, you'll need to remove the dash and the bulbs are located behind the gauges. Not a task for the timid.

you have to take off the dash board panels. these screws will be over the radio, behind the ashtray, under dashboard over the gauges, and the last set will be on each side of the steering wheel. u can then see the 4 screws for the gauges and just remove screws, reach back and twist bulb out. i would suggest changing all four at the same time because if one goes out they all will. i learned the hard way Is that the only thing not working? check your tail lights. you will still have brake lights but if you blew a fuse your running lights , tail lights and dash are all on the same fuse. mine kept blowing it was a bad ground by the alternator.

the fuse that controls the interior lights, running board,an rear wiper is blown. it is a 15amp fuse in the panel. Also,try the cluster dimmer position since it controls the running board lights and exterior mirror lights as well.This dimmer is located next to the headlight switch.Good luck!
