the co-ordinate co-valent bond is different in that the bonding pair comes from only one of the atoms called the donor atom. The other atom, the acceptor atom, simply accepts the sharing responsibilities. An example of such a bond is as follows: NH3 + H+ ------> NH3--->H+

b)a coordinate covalent bond is a covalent bond in which one atom contributes both bonding electrons, In a coordinate covalent bond, the shared electron pair comes from one of the bonding atoms. Once formed, a coordinate covalent bond is like any other covalent bond

In ordinary covalent bond, each reacting atom has to donate electrons. On the other hand, the pair of electrons in coordinate covalent bond is donated only by one of the reacting atoms.

Once formed the coordinate covalent bond is for all intents and purposes a covalent bond, in the simple example of NH4+ where one bond is formally called a coordinate covalent bond (or dative bond) all the bonds are identical, the ion is tetrahedral.

In a coordinate covalent bond the electrons are only from one atom.
Examples ae (NH4)+, (H3O)+.

What kind of covalent bond is formed when electrons are shared between atoms?

Covalent bonds and dative (coordinate) bonds are formed are formed by sharing electrons between the bonding atoms.

Does h2o contain a coordinate covalent bond?

No. Although the bonds in H2O are covalent, they are not coordinate covalent bonds.

Onced formed how are cordanite covelent bonds differ from other covelent bonds?

Once formed there is NO difference from other covalant bonds. Coordinate covalent bonds only differ from other covalent bonds because a single element donates all the electrons that are to be shared.
