Why can't light pass through what?
To first contributer, don't say that. Say light cannot pass through solid, opaque objects at times.

glass
an objects light can pass through is transparent
"Clear" objects are named "clear" because light can pass through them. If light could not pass through them, they would not be labeled "clear".
Dark objects do not reflect light. Light is absorbed by them.
it is different because translucent objects leaves the light to pass through partially, but transparent objects leave the light to pass through fully.
