the driveway alarm systems work very well, they're not too sensitive so a raccoon or dog wont be heavy enough to set it off, but any car or truck on your driveway will.

Don't know if it'll work for gravel, but in hauling asphalt, we have a couple different means. At every asphalt plant, there'll be a dispenser, which dispenses a soap and water mix to keep the beds slick. However, this doesn't always work the best, and a lot of drivers instead prefer to spray their beds with diesel fuel.
