There's no definite answer as to when you will go into labor some women can reach 4cm & stay that way for weeks! Contractions are a very good sign. A good way to speed up your effacement is to do curb walking.....walk along a curb with one foot up on the curb and one foot on the ground, kind of a waddle....walk as far as you can then turn around and alternate the foot that is now up on the curb and walk back.....repeat this as often as you can and for as long as you can. You could also climb stairs 2 at a time. What you want to do is get that baby's head rotating & pushing against your cervix that's what's going to open it up!
