the poem carpenter's complaint is about a capenter who is drunk. he is at a bar complaining.he is not complaining to anyone in specific.he was complaining about his friend who was his drinking buddy who died recently and his son did not give the job to make the coffin. the son gave it to another man called mr.belnavis. the capenter described him as a big belly crook. the capener who is the speaking voice (persona) says that he wanted to make the coffin for a gift.he also said that he built the house that the man lived in so he is also strong to build his coffin.
