Method 1:
Fill the 3-gallon jug.
Pour this into the 5-gallon jug.
Fill the 3-gallon jug again, and pour from it into the 5-gallon jug until it is full. This leaves 1 gallon in the 3-gallon jug.
Empty the 5-gallon jug, and then pour the gallon from the 3-gallon jug into it. Fill the 3-gallon jug, and pour it into the 5-gallon jug, thus making 4 gallons.
Method 2:
Fill the 5-gallon jug.
Pour this into the 3-gallon jug until it's full.
Empty the 3-gallon jug, and then pour the remaining two gallons into the 3-gallon jug.
Fill the 5-gallon jug, and then pour into the 3-gallon jug until it is full, leaving 4 gallons in the 5-gallon jug.
First fill the 7 gallon container to the top and empty it into the 5 gallon container. You then have 2 left in the 7 gallon container.
Second dump the 5 gallon and move the 2 left over from above from the 7 gallon container to the 5 gallon container. And fill the 7 gallon container to the top again. Empty the 7 container into the 5 container. You should now have a 7 gallon container with 4 gallons and a full 5 gallon container.
Third, dump the 5 gallon and more the 7 gallon to the 5 gallon. Fill the 7 gallon and fill the 5 gallon with the 7 gallon. You now have 6 gallons in the 7 gallon container.
Enjoy.
1. Fill up the 5 gal. jug
2. Fill the 3 gal. jug from the 5 gal.
3. There will be 2 gallons left in the 5 gal. jug.
4. Empty the 3 gal. jug, and pour in the 2 gallons from the other jug.
5. Fill the 5 gallon jug again.
6. You figure it out from here.
Fill up the 9 qt. jug. Fill up the 4 qt jug using water from the 9 qt. jug. That will leave 5 qts. in the 9 qt. jug. Dump out the water in the 4 qt jug and fill it again with the water that remains in the 9 qt jug. Now you have just one qt. in the 9 qt jug. (9 - 4 = 5. 5 - 4 = 1) Dump out the water in the 4 qt jug again. Pour the remaining 1 qt from the 9 qt jug into the 4 qt jug. Now you have 1 qt of water in the 4 qt jug leaving room for 3 more quarts. Fill up the 9 qt jug again and then pour it into the 4 qt jug until it is full. Now you have 6 qts in the 9 qt jug.
a slow way of doing it is:
fill 3l, empty into 8l. fill 3l, empty into 8l. fill 3l, empty as much as you can into 8l, but you will have 1 left over (3+3+3 = 9. 9-8 is 1), so empty this into a basin. Repeat 3 more times to get 4 litres
You fill up the three gallon can and then put it into the five gallon can. You re-fill the three gallon can and pour it into the five gallon can until full. You now have 1 gallon in the 3 gallon can. You dump out the five gallon can and then pour in the 1 gallon from the 3 gallon can into the five gallon. Then you re-fill the three gallon and pour it into the five galllon.
You now have 4 gallons in the five gallon can! :D
You fill the 3 gallon jug up and pour it into the 5 gal jug. then fill the 3 gal jug up again and use it to fill up the 5 gal jug. now you have 1 gallon left. empty the 5 gal jug. pour the one gallon in it, then fill up the 3 gal jug up again, pour it into the 5 gal jug. now you have 4 gallons
Voila! You now have 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jar.
fill up the 5 gallon jar. pour it into the 3 gallon jar. you have 2 gallons left in the 5 gallon jar. empty out the 3 gallon jar. put the 2 gallons into the 3 gallon. fill up the 5 gallon. fill up the 3 gallon jar with the 5 gallon jar. there is then 4 gallons left in the 5 gallon jar.
1 quart is equal to 2 pints 1 imperial gallon is equal to 8 pints therefore 4 quarts in a 1 gallon jug
It varies from jug to jug but if you want to find out the capacity of your jug fill it up with water and then pour it into a measuring device.
Nonfat milk is very close in density to water which weighs 8 pounds per gallon.
180.55 pounds. 180 pennies in a pound and there is roughly 32,500 pennies in 5 gallons. 32,500.00 divided by 180= 180.55
as big as a 1 gallon jug
# Fill the 4-gallon jug with water then put it in the 9-gallon jug. # Repeat this step. The 9-gallon jug now has 8 gallons. # Fill the 4-gallon jug a third time, but pour only enough into the 9-gallon jug to fill it completely with no overflow. # The 4-gallon jug now has three gallons. Put that water aside safely, then repeat 1-3 for a total of six gallons.
you can measure exactly 7 gallons using a five gallon jug and a three gallong jug by using one five gallon jug and 2/3 of the three gallon jug to equal seven gallons total. That is what I think for being 11 years old. by of course JACIE <3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
you fill the 7 gallon jug and then place the water into the 5 gallon jug. You will end up with 2 gallons because you subtracted 5 gallons, place that water somewhere else and repeat the process.
fill the 5 gallon jug with water then pour the water into the 3 gallon jug until its full then u will have 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug. then if the jugs both have the same circumference u can just make the water in both jugs level then u will have 2 gallons of water in each jug. pour the water from the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. and u should know that 2+2=4 :)
There are lots of ways to do this, but here's one: Fill the 5 gallon jug to the top. Pour the water from the 5 gallon jug to the 3 gallon jug until the 3 gallon jug is full. What's left in the 5 gallon jug is 5 - 3 = 2 gallons. Dump what's in the 3 gallon jug. Put the 2 gallons from the larger jug into the smaller jug. Now fill the 5 gallon jug. You'll have 5 + 2 = 7 gallons, as needed.
Fill the 5 gallon jug completely then pour that into the 3 gallon jug. Empty out the 3 gallon jug and pour the remaining water in the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug. Then just fill up the 5 gal jug again you will have 2 gallons in the 3 gallon jug and 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
Fill the 5 gallon jug Pour from the 5 gallon to fill the 3 gallon jug You now have 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug Empty the 3 gallon jug Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug Fill the 5 gallon jug Pour from the 5 gallon jug to fill the three gallon jug -- this will tale 1 gallon You now have 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug
AnswerThere are three ways to do this. Method 1Step 1 : Fill the 5 gallon jug and then pour it into the 3 gallon jug. The 5 gallon jug has2 gallons left.Step 2 : Now throw the 3 gallon water away. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug to the 3 gallon jug. So now the 3 gallon jug has just 2 gallons of water.Step 3 : Fill the 5 gallon jug again, and pour 1 gallon to the 3 gallon jug. What do u have left in the 5 gallon jug ?? 4 gallons of water.. !Method 2Next to each step, the current contents (in gallons of water) of the two jugs (5 gallon first, then 3 gallon) is written.5 0 Fill the 5 gallon jug.2 3 Pour 3 gallons into the other jug, leaving 2 gallons.2 0 Empty the 3 gallon jug.0 2 Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug.5 2 Fill the 5 gallon jug again.4 3 Top up the 3 gallon jug from the 5 gallon jug, leaving 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.Method 3You fill the three gallon jug and then pour it into the five gallon jug. Then you fill it again and pour it in the five gallon jug, leaving one gallon in the three gallon jug. Then you pour out the five gallon jug, pour the one gallon from the three gallon jug into the five gallon jug, then you fill the three gallon jug, pour it into the five gallon jug, leaving four gallons in the five gallon jug. P.S Who designed that annoying bomb you're trying to defuse?
Yes you can. Fill the 8 gallon jug and from it fill the 5 gallon jug. Pour out the 5 gallons and pour the rest of the 8 into it. You now have 3 gallons in the 5 gallon jug Refill the 8 gallon jug and from it finish filling the 5 gallon jug. You now have 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug and 6 in the 8 gallon. Empty the 5 gallon jug and refill it from the 8 gallon and you have 1 gallon left in the 8 gallon jug. There are other ways of doing this wasting less water. See if you can figure it out.
Fill the 5-gallon jug with liquid. Pour the liquid into the 7-gallon jug. Fill the 5-gallon jug with liquid and top-off the 7-gallon jug with the liquid of the 5-gallon. There will one gallon of liquid left in the 5-gallon jug. Empty the contents of the 7-gallon jug and fill it with the one gallon left in the 5-gallon jug. Fill the 5-gallon jug with liquid and pour it into the 7-gallon jug that contains one gallon of liquid. Do the math, one gallon plus five gallons equals six gallons of liquid.
8 gallons
there is 10 gallons of water in the jug
