Without physics, cars, TV's, and electric lights would not have been invented, we would not know about space and astronomy, we would never know about forces and atoms. Physics is about all that and more, which is why it is important.

Without physics, we would not have computers or the internet.

Physics, which merges into chemistry, is the sum of our understanding of the universe, Biology and other disciplines are byproducts of these subjects. Without physics or chemistry there would be no cars, no internet, no tv, no metalurgy, no fire and we would still be animals thinking that fishing ants out of a hill with twigs was a novel idea. So whatever "It" is, physics is important to it.

The study of physics is how we come up with ways of describing the physical world, what it's made of and how it works. Those are important things to know especially because this is where we live. So, you could think of it as sort of an owners manual that tells you everything you need to be able to work with what you have.
Physics is considered the basis for all sciences. Study of physics describe the motion, energy, momentum, and forcess on matter throughout the entire universe. In order to truly understand other desciplines of science eg biology, chemistry, geology, astronomy and so on, one needs to understand the basic principles of physics. For example, in biology, the movement of blood is closely related to motion, gravity and fluid dynamics.

For general high school students physics often seems to serve no purpose. However, physics is an excellent subject to help teach students critical thinking skills, through problem solving or experimental design. As well, physics students gain a better understanding of science and its process, helping them to understand important issues such as energy conservation.

Should one do Physics at University?

It is normally assumed about Physics that it is one of the most difficult subjects studied at senior school level and onwards. I have a different viewpoint. I think Physics is one of the most fascinating and interesting subjects and you should go for it. Possibly students remain unaware of its importance because common lack of understanding about Physics prevails. If a student does not comprehend what physics is, he/she remains doubtful to grasp the significance of physics that it can contribute towards society, and more prominently the relevance of Physics to them. It is important that students need to know why physics is important and what careers or other benefits might stem from studying physics.
