The goldeneye,a diving duck.There are two species,the common goldeneye and Barrow's goldeneye.They have glossy heads and whitish bodies with black on the back.The common has a greenish head,while Barrow's has a purple head.Both species have a white spot in front of the eye.The females have brown heads,and are dull brown except for a white ring around the neck.
